What Makes an Effective Job Search?

You know how easy it is sometimes to overlook the basics? Effectively managing your job search isn’t that complicated but pretty important.  Too often people forget which jobs they’ve applied for, which doesn’t create the strongest first impression with the recruiter and will cause you unnecessary stress and embarrassment.

There are lots of different systems you could use, but most importantly do use one! Many people use a straight forward Excel worksheet or Word doc. You can create a screen print of adverts you apply to online and save them to your computer, or simply print them off so you can revisit them if you need to.  There are lots of browser based document/email systems now available, which include Hotmail (which has seen some wiz bang updates recently, so you can view documents online without needing to have the software installed) or Google docs is another favourite.  The benefit of this approach is you can access your stuff from any PC with a browser (internet connection) instead of having to be on your own PC. This gives you better access, which is secure, and avoids those conversations where you need to explain your dog ate your laptop so it’ll take a week or two to write a new CV!.

These systems also enable you to publish online (secure) calendars. You can choose who can access this ie recruiters making it easy for them to schedule interviews or meetings around times they know you’ll be free. This enables you to meet the hiring company sooner and reduces time wasted on un necessary phone calls. One of the most frustrating elements of sourcing candidates can be diary management so anything you can do to make yourself easier to work with will stand you in good stead.

The other benefit which Google offers (yes, you can probably tell it’s the system I like best!) is you can add and attach docs into appointments in your calendar.  So if you get an email confirming a meeting with a location map attached, simply tag in into your calendar. You can then easily access this from your phone (but not whilst driving of course).

By using the folder systems available with these browser based systems, you can easily organise all your resumes, cover letters and follow up letters (and anything wlse for that matter) in one place, and manage your email efficiently. You’ll find Google even provide a templates facility, which includes lots of different style CV’s which you can use to update or change your style if you are not totally happy with it.  Letter and presentation templates can be found here too.

If you’re really active online applying for jobs here’s a watch-out.  Many jobsites use what are called aggregators.  These take a job listing and post it across multiple sites, which means if you’re not on top of your applications you could apply two, three or more times for the same job!  Whilst you’d probably notice if the company was advertising their role direct, if a recruiter is handling the assignment on their behalf you may not (notice) without a proper application management system. Information I recommend you should capture to avoid this situation includes:

  • Job title, recruiter, and reference number
  • Where you saw it and when
  • Who you application went you and how
  • Copy of any tailored email covering note
  • Who interviewed you
  • What feedback you received
  • What your interview experience was
  • How long it took for a company to respond to you
  • Whether you got an auto responder message etc

Not rocket science admittedly, but you may be surprised at how many people fail to make the strongest first impression because they believe they can manage without it and don’t!.

There comes a point in some lucky peoples’ lives when they are in line to get a jump start on the fascinating career that they have always wanted. One of the more coveted, yet difficult to obtain, jobs is also one that requires a vast amount of knowledge and background to grasp. Sales Director jobs do not grow on trees and are some of the more impressive employment opportunities you can ever achieve for yourself and if and when you ever get to that point in time where you actually have that chance to take hold of one for yourself, you must be prepared for what is to follow.

Sales Director jobs are not for everyone, mind you, so there is much that is needed to know before even thinking about applying for one. It takes years and years over hard work and dedication to your craft to be able to step in and the fill the shoes of your predecessor who, more than likely, was a hero amongst his fellow employees. Being able to find Regional Sales Manager jobs takes time and patience and an incredibly strong desire to succeed. It is not the type of job that is for everyone, though, so you must have the right credentials and a strong work ethic to ever be considered for such a prestigious and sought after job. While it is not exactly an easy job to be accepted to, finding one might take even more time if you do not know where to start your search.

You have seen all of the websites that promote themselves on TV telling you to go here or go there to find your future and perfect jobs. These sites might be helpful to some degree, but you will more than likely not be able to find a job that is as well paying or as prestigious as Regional Sales Manager jobs. There are hundreds and hundreds of Account Manager jobs out there for you to have, but you have to know how to find them before you can actually have a chance to get them. You can’t just try to walk into any business and hope that they have a position available. Instead, you have to do your research so that you can find out which companies are hiring and which ones you like the most. It is a pretty easy process, but you have to be willing to take some time to make sure that you find the perfect fit.

You just have to start out by going on the web to find Account Manager jobs these days because that is what businesses are using as their primary way of letting people know that they have positions open. A good idea is to look at all of the websites that list job openings and then writing down all of the ones that you think you might be interested in. After that, go to all of those companies’ sites and look over all of the info that you need to until you feel comfortable with a couple of them. Then all you have to do is apply to those that are left.

Staying focused on the ultimate prize while you are going about looking for Account Manager jobs is the best way to overcome any bumps in the road along the way. You might be turned down or you might not like the position after interviewing with someone, but that doesn’t mean the process has to be over. It’s easy to lose focus, but you just can’t if you want to start a career that will make you happy.

National Account Manager jobs aren’t the easiest jobs to find, but it is not impossible either if you use all of the resources that are available to you. These are great positions that pay well and give you a sense of purpose, and looking up the ones in your area is the first step towards becoming one. Too many people don’t take this initial step and are left to wonder what they did wrong years down the line.

The most important thing to keep in mind when looking for National Account Manager jobs is that you need to stay away from the ones that you aren’t qualified for yet. This is actually helpful in a way, too, because it will narrow down the list of positions that you need to be applying for. Just keep going over all of the good job websites that are out there until you have a handful of options that you like the most.

Even though the process can be a bit frustrating at times for a variety of reasons, you can’t just stop looking because of a few failed attempts. Persistence is key in this situation, so you can’t let frustration get the better of you. If you expect it to take a little while for you to find the job that you want, then you won’t feel as let down if any don’t work out for you as planned.

If you either have a National Account Manager job or you are interested in getting one, then you need to know what steps you need to take so that you can have as much success as possible. This involves the work both behind the scenes and with customers. Too many people take these types of jobs for granted and they forget what it is to take care of business the right way. Following a couple of tips can be the difference between being okay at your job and being fantastic.

There is a lot of pressure that comes with being a National Account Manager, but with all of that pressure comes a rewarding feeling that is unlike anything else in the world. If you do the job the way that you are supposed to do it and make constant strides towards bettering yourself, you will get to know this feeling very well. It may seem tough, and it is, but it is far from impossible.

What should be avoided is loss of focus in a position like this because things can go awry very quickly if you aren’t at the top of your game at all times. Many people these days want to get a Business Manager job so that they can provide for their families and be proud of what they do. It isn’t an easy job to get by any means, but it is attainable if you are patient and travel up the ranks of the company that you choose. It is also possible to get one of these jobs by going to school and getting a business degree, but it’s not necessary if you have been trained to take over this type of position.

Recognizing that you want to get a Business Manager job is the first step towards doing what you need to do to get one. A lot of people want this type of job, but they don’t know how to approach it the right way. The best way to do this is by either applying to a new company or by letting your employers know that you are interested in taking over that position at some point. They can give you all of the information that you need to get started on the path to a managerial position.

A mistake that a lot of people make is that they have limited options and they only look around their area for vacant positions. If you have a look around the internet on the sites that list all of the available jobs in your area, you will see that there are a ton of managerial positions that open up each month. You just can’;t give up if you don’t find a suitable one on your first try.

It is not an easy thing to get the Business Manager job that you really want, but it can be accomplished with a little bit of patience and a lot of hard work. Just make a five year plan for yourself, stick to it, and then apply for it once you have put all of the work in that you have to.
